""The career of pastry chef Hedy Goldsmith has been a journey toward confident simplicity."
- Owen Dugan, Wine Spectator

After a storied career sweetening -- and revolutionizing -- the Miami culinary scene with her signature, retro-modern desserts at the empire she helped create with Chef Michael Schwartz, pastry chef Hedy Goldsmith relocated to Los Angeles, where she is about to launch three product lines under her Sweet Hedy label followed by a soon-to-be announced venture in the summer of 2016.

Her Easy Bake Oven-inspired playful sweets evoke an edible nostalgia complimented by a sophisticated spin on all sorts of desserts, and Goldsmith has found new inspiration in her West Coast surroundings. But don't expect anything too serious, as seriously good as they promise to be. Goldsmith still likes to play.

“I am inspired by the produce in Southern California," she admits, adding "It's on steroids in a great way. Smelling a peach at the farmers market smells JUST the way it tastes….amazingly honest. I get inspiration from sitting at a bar and watching mixologists craft custom drinks, building on flavor profiles."

And while a sweet tooth is Goldsmith's signature, she is also having fun playing with the savory, "layering flavors that may seem odd as stand alone, yet become part of the symphony of a dish," she says. "I like engaging every inch of the palate; sweet, salty, sour, bitter, umami. Savory elements are essential to the success of a balanced dessert.”

A 2012 and 2013 James Beard Award Finalist for the nationally-contested Outstanding Pastry Chef category, Goldsmith's first cookbook, Baking Out Loud: Fun Desserts with Big Flavors (Clarkson Potter), was released in October 2012.

The media's hunger for Goldsmith and her desserts is insatiable with coverage on TODAY Show and Food Network, The New York Times, PEOPLE Magazine, Wall Street Journal, Wine Spectator, Food & Wine magazine and more. She and an all-star team of badass women defeated Bobby Flay on Food Network's Iron Chef as the first all-female competitors.

Goldsmith is in her sixth season on Cooking Channel's Unique Sweets, creates seasonal recipes for CookingChannel.com and blogs about all things sweet on FoodNetwork.com. Goldsmith lends her time and support to a number of causes dear to heart like Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation in the fight against childhood cancer, and Common Threads, an after-school program for underprivileged kids.

Goldsmith holds a B.A. in Photography and Film from the Philadelphia College of Art and graduated with honors from the Culinary Institute of America in New York.

She lives in Los Angeles with her wife and their two shih tzu's, Sweetpea and Cooper.‚Äč
